A Lady with a Golden Voice: Shamshad Begum

August 21, 2017

Believe us or not, Shamshad Begum was few of those 1st female singers in Film industry who have made it big with their voices since the era before partition. A blend of naturally unique and distinguishing voice that she had, made people crazy about it not only in those times, but even today with their peppy remixes.
Born to a very conservative family in Lahore of today’s Pakistan with seven more siblings to survive with, it was difficult for Shamshad’s father to let her choose singing as profession. But it was her uncle Amiruddin who helped her convince her father in taking this tough call.
A rare but unconventionally great voice was yesteryear’s that star which even today’s music masters search for.
